Perusing istockphoto.com is how I've spent many an idle hour recently, looking for a logo for this website.  "Your face is a logo" said some, sounding oddly insulting.  Yes, but the eventual repercussion of this would be committing the ultimate faux-pas of featuring myself on my business card.  How 'bout "no", Scott.

And then, I found it.  My stock photo soul mate.  Minimalist and colorful, simple yet bursting with detail.  And best of all - shaped like an elephant.

The Parable of the Blind Men and the Elephant:

"The blind man who feels a leg says the elephant is like a pillar; the one who feels the tail says the elephant is like a rope; the one who feels the trunk says the elephant is like a tree branch; the one who feels the ear says the elephant is like a hand fan; the one who feels the belly says the elephant is like a wall; and the one who feels the tusk says the elephant is like a solid pipe.  A wise man explains to them:
'All of you are right. The reason every one of you is telling it differently is because each one of you touched the different part of the elephant. So, actually the elephant has all the features you mentioned.'"

Just like each religion is a metaphor for something so enormous and incomprehensible to the human mind.  And just like we shouldn't judge someone's view on any elephant.  If we were on their side of the room, we'd be feeling the same limb.

Very cool site Toti. Jenny was just showing me all the willy photos and that's when I came across your link. I love the logo as well as the "blind men and the elephant" story. It makes a lot of sense. Although, what about the guy who felt the pern?

Toti! You're not gonna believe this, but the parable of the Blind Men and the Elephant has been one of my favorites since I was a little kid! I used to have a picture-book that was cleverly marketed to children, since it featured Seven Blind Mice (in lieu of men), who inquisitively roamed the surface of an elephant! :) And, although as a kid I always thought that I had comprehended the moral the story, it just dawned on me that the parable is not merely about tolerance and open-mindedness, but rather, like you elegantly observed, also about knowledge and truth... tok flashback! :p I agree, the world and universe are a truly vast elephant, and we, like blind men or mice, can see nothing but an infinitesimal fraction of it. Quantum physics for kindergardeners! (I love it)

It's amazing how well all of this fits in with what you want to do! One of the many dimensions of marketing could perhaps be described as the act of approaching a blind man, taking him from the hand, and leading him to the other side of the room -- where he can explore an entirely new perspective of the elephant (or a product)!

Felicidades Toti! Se nota que en verdad tienes en la mira el camino hacia un futuro de muchísimo éxito, en el cual indudablemente lograrás marcar una gran diferencia. Me siento super afortunado de haber conocido a una persona tan increíblemente apasionada como vos!

I really like this blog entry! - I agree, your face is your logo. Nonetheless, I still believe that, "A knight proves his worthiness through his deeds."

But surely there must exist one guy with the self-honesty to admit, "In the time given, I have observed what seems to resemble a.... This may or may not comprise the entirety of the observed subject. Only further exploration can allow me to reach a more definitive conclusion...."

It is only unfounded speculation that leads to Blindy's false assessment; it's then no false judgment to call Blindy on his indolence.

There is a difference between hasty judgment and reasoned judgment. And there's nothing wrong with reasoned judgment.

More often than not, the right answer actually exists, and is discoverable by anyone with the proper motivation.

You have a choice. Be the wise man.
